Sunny Rewind: Robots in Japan
This past week I have found myself getting restless for my next adventure. My wandering feet have been grounded too long! Okay, so its only been a month since my last trip, but still. I'm ready! Luckily, this weekend we will be heading off to Texas for the first in a round of fun adventures we have lined up for the rest of the year.
However, with a month's worth of down time I have been having lots of serious nostalgia for all the trips of travelers past. So...I thought it would be fun to share what I like to call a "Sunny Rewind." Here's a quick look at just one night of our Japan trip last year (probably our favorite adventure to date) where we visited the Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Words really don't do it justice, but you can take a look at the website for some insane videos.
Completed in 2012 at a cost of $10million, nearly every surface of the club is decorated in lights, mirrors, or flat panel monitors. Honestly, when we visited, I'm not sure I event knew there was a show aspect to the restaurant. I just found what looked to be an amazingly cool experience and off we went!
After having drinks with our new robot/dinosaur/friend Pleo (if you are trying to figure out what to get me for Christmas, look no further!), we were ushered downstairs, served a bento box dinner, offered our own personal glow sticks and then took our seats. Commence main event, a three hour sci-fi cabaret show complete with giant robots, female cyborgs, and a ginormous panda wrestling match. When we visited we were, quite frankly, stunned for the entire first half of the show. However, by the end of the night we were enthusiastically waving our glow sticks with the best of 'em!
