Where to Find the Best Views in Paris
The Eiffel Tower
It kind of goes without saying that to get one of the best panoramic views of the entire city of Paris, you must ascend its most famous monument! And hey, if you are going to Paris, why would you not go to the Eiffel Tower? If you are trying to avoid the crowds, make this your first stop of the day and be sure to book a skip-the-line tour in advance. Ain't nobody got time for that.
A Seine River Cruise
At night. With champagne! Cruising along the Seine River, you will pass some of Paris' most famous monuments. Yes you will see the Eiffel Tower, but you'll also get a glimpse of Notre Dame Cathedral, the Paris Statue of Liberty, Pont Alexandre and all the lovers strolling along the river banks.
Galeries Lafayette
Paris' most famous department store, the Galeries are a must for the views both inside and out. If you are in town for the holidays be sure to check out the famous Christmas tree with a new and unique theme each year. Then, go up to the roof for one of Paris' most stunning views that includes both Palais Garnier and the Eiffel Tower. It was not open when we visited, but in the warmer months there is a champagne bar on the roof. Oh la la!
The Arc de Triomphe
While we did not have time to go to the top, both this picture and this picture confirm that the views are stunning. It would seem one should go just before sunset. Send me a picture and let me know what I missed! I promise to only hate you a little.
Trocadero
Chock full of tourists, Trocadero offers one of the best vantage points of the great Iron Lady. Watch out for pick pockets and afterwards head up the road to Chez Zhong for some of the best Chinese food you will ever have!
Montmartre
One of the highest points in Paris, Montmartre offers some pretty great views. Stick around to check out the artist stalls, visit the Basilica of Sacre Coeur, enjoy a coffee or a an aperitif at one of the cafes. Keep wandering past the crowds to find some of the most charming side streets in the city.
